Newsletter No: 6  28th February 2008

Dear Parents

I hope you all had an enjoyable week last week and welcome back to term 4.  I shall not be in school next week as I am accompanying our Years 5 & 6 on their residential.  During my absence, Miss Lawrence will be in charge, ably assisted by Miss Wallis.

Email Facility

Hopefully, if you requested it, you have received this newsletter via email.  From now on, wherever possible, we shall send out communication, from school, by email to those of you who asked for it.  If you would like to receive newsletters, letters etc. electronically, please send an email to office@harpole.northants.sch.uk stating your child’s name and year group.

WE SHALL CONTINUE TO SEND OUT PAPER COPIES OF NEWSLETTERS TO PARENTS WHO HAVE NOT REQUESTED THE EMAIL OPTION.

Don’t forget that you can also view most documents on the school website.

Pottery Workshop

I am sure you heard about the very enjoyable Pottery Workshop that all the children took part in during the final week of last term.  Each child has made at least one clay tile which will form a mural to go on the outside wall of the front entrance.  The tiles are now drying and then will be fired.  Hopefully we should get them back by Easter.

I NOW NEED YOUR HELP!  ARE THERE ANY EXPERIENCED TILERS AMONGST YOU WHO COULD PUT THE TILES UP?

If so, could you please contact me.  Thank you.

Playing Fields Car Park

I am sure that as ‘improved car parking’ was one of the key issues raised by yourselves during our Autumn Survey of Parents, you will appreciate the newly resurfaced playing fields car park.

The Playing Fields Committee spent a considerable amount of money getting the work completed and they have approached me to see whether the school/parents could find the cost of re-painting the white lines.  As you can appreciate, it is our parents who use the car park the most out of any other users.  As a result, we shall be trying to create a ‘River of Gold’ (please see separate sheet).  I would be grateful if you could support this event as it will cost between £400 - £500 to put the markings down.  Not only will you as parents benefit, but the wider community will also.  Thank you again.

School Charter and Commendation Assembly.
During January, a survey was issued containing questions relating to the school award system and commendation assembly. We would like to take the opportunity to thank the 48 parents that completed the survey, and especially those that did so on-line.  We now have all of the responses and are working through them to determine the best way forward for the school.  The responses  vary greatly with some parents providing considerable feedback.  We want to make sure we don't miss anyone's opinions and ideas as we formulate our plans.  We hope to bring you further news during the summer term.
Thank you for taking the time to assist us.’

Healthy Lunch Box Ideas

Are you stuck for ideas as to what to pack for your child’s lunch box?  If so, please come along to the school hall on THURSDAY      27TH MARCH at 2.45pm.  The Northamptonshire ‘Healthy Eating Team’ will be in attendance offering advise and suggestions as to what you may like to include in your child’s lunch box.

Lost Property

We have a number of items of lost property in the school.  Clothing is kept in the double cupboard inside the school hall so if your child has lost any items, please check there.  In addition, we have smaller items in the school office which include a DIGITAL CAMERA.  If you have lost any valuable items, please see the office staff.

A Special ‘Well Done’

To Megan Howe and Emily McCormack who raised £22.00 for our twinned school in          Sri Lanka.  The girls recorded themselves playing on their flutes, the track they performed at the recent talent contest.  They then sold copies to family and friends.  Well done girls!!

Hotshots Basketball

Due to the Years 5 & 6 residential, there will be NO HOTSHOTS on Monday 3rd March.  Sessions will begin again week commencing 10th March.
