28 Feb 2007 - Newsletter No. 4

Dear Parents

Car Parking

As I am sure you are all aware, last week the Governors and I were monitoring the parking situation outside the school.  I am pleased to say that generally the parking/dropping off of the children was much improved whilst we were there.

The reason we have been undertaking this is as of a direct result of complaints made by yourselves at last Autumn’s Parents’ Evening.  In addition, it has been reported to me that one of our Reception children was ‘clipped’ by a car whilst trying to cross Carrs Way

I have raised the issue of parking with the Parish Council, especially concerning the playing field car park, and this has resulted in  a Working Party being set up to try and raise the £58,000 needed to improve/resurface the car park. Two of our Governors are on this  Working Party.

In the meantime, could I remind you all to continue to park/drop off your child in a considerate manner.   Please do not :-

  •     Use the school car park
  •     Park/drop off in the school entrance or anywhere on the yellow zig zag lines
  •    Park on the corner of Carrs Way or any other junctions
  •    Park in the coned area on Larkhall Lane
  •    Park opposite the school entrance

School Website

I am pleased to say, that after much hard work by Miss Eyles, our Website is now up and running again.  You will find a wealth of information on the site including Newsletters and various forms. Each class also has it’s own page where you can see photographs, letters and other useful information.  It is hoped that the Governors, School Council and FOHS will also set up their own pages in the not too distant future.

On the front page you will see an e-mail I have received from Sri Lanka .  There are photographs of the computers that we purchased for Heendeliya Vidalaya School with the children using them.

Sri Lankan Dance Workshop

The dance workshop which was postponed due to the ‘Snow Day’ has now been rescheduled for this Thursday, 1st March.  If you have a child in Yrs 1 – 6 please ensure they have their PE Kit in school on this day.

Clubs

For your information the majority of after school clubs do not run during the first week of each term/half-term.  Generally, the only exceptions to this are Hotshots and the Freestyle Soccer Academy .  Very occasionally, a club will run in the first week i.e.  for a football match etc.  but the children will be informed if this is the case.

Parents’ Evening/Open Mornings

This term’s Parents’ Evening will take place on the following dates:-

   Tuesday 27th March –             3.30pm - 6.00pm

   Wednesday 28th March –       5.00pm - 8.00pm

As usual, forms will be placed in the school hall the week prior to enable you to book a preferred slot.

In addition to the above Parents’ Evening, and again after requests from yourselves, each KS2 Class will be having an open morning each term.  The days for these will be notified to you via the Class Newsletter.

Yours sincerely
