Summer 2010

A big thank you to all those who were

able to join us for our

Significant People Entry Point.

Alot of effort had been made by children

and parents to make sure that we

had a great afternoon and a great

start to our new I.P.C. unit.

Our swimming days are Monday and Friday!

June 2010

Dear Parents

Many thanks to all those who were able to join us on our I.P.C. entry point for Significant People.  I am sure you will agree that all the children looked fantastic and that it was a great afternoon.

Over the next five weeks we will be focusing on Significant People.  We will be looking at significant Victorians, significant artists and significant musicians.

In literacy we are working on using dialogue and we will be writing and performing our own plays.  In numeracy will have been working hard on our 2D and 3D shape knowledge and will also be focusing on time and division.

In P.E. we obviously have our swimming lessons and on Monday afternoons will be concentrating on Kwik Cricket and athletics.  Can I ask that all children have the correct P.E. kit in school on a Monday as a number of children have been without their kit this week?  Please check that your child has suitable footwear for the field – as I think some have out grown their plimsolls!

In art we will be finding out about:

  • Some artists from our own and host country;

  • We will be comparing the work of various artists;

  • We will research why some artists are significant;

  • We will be copying the style of several artists using a range of mediums.

In history we will be:

  • Learning about some significant men and women who have made a difference to other people’s lives;

  • Thinking about how we learn about the past using photos, painting and documents to find out about these people.

In music we will be:

  • Continuing our normal music scheme – this term we are exploring singing games and how music paints pictures in our minds.

In science we will be learning about forces at the end of term.

In R.E. we will be looking at the life of Jesus and his stories, if children have favourite stories that they wish to bring in then please encourage them to do so.

The new learning log will go out next week, if you have any queries regarding the extended task or any other matter please come and see me before or after school.

Class 3 Rose Queen attendants this year are Joseph Brown and Skye Bates – I’m sure they will look great!

Many thanks

Mrs Laidlaw and Mrs Brandwood
