International Primary Curriculum (IPC)
Harpole Primary School is the first school in Northamptonshire to use the International Primary Curriculum.
What is it?
The International Primary Curriculum is a new curriculum, which encourages enjoyment of learning, embraces all of the different learning styles and engages children in learning about international aspects. It uses a topic based approach to combine subjects such as History, Geography, Art, Music, Citizenship, DT, Science and some PE. This topic based approach motivates children and helps them to develop a love of learning; something which we are passionate about at Harpole Primary School.
What is involved?
Entry Point - The starting point, often a fun activity to excite, interest and inspire children.
Knowledge Harvest - This is the opportunity for the teacher to find out everything that children already know on a particular topic. This is very useful to help develop their learning.
Tasks - There are lots of practical learning tasks covering the subjects above. These tasks utilise different learning styles and some are open ended to encourage creativity in children's approaches.
Exit point - A chance to share all of the things children have learnt during the course of the unit.

How do we share this with parents and guardians?
At Harpole, we have termly newsletters to let parents and guardians know what the children will be doing over the course of the term. In these newsletters, we give information about what will be learnt by the children and how they can be supported at home.
We also have times when parents can visit the classroom to see the children's work.
