SEND

At Harpole Primary School, we are proud to be an inclusive community where every child is supported to thrive. We believe that all children, whatever their individual needs or abilities, deserve a high-quality education that helps them grow in confidence, independence, and achievement.

Our Intent

We aim to ensure that every child—regardless of need—has the tools, support, and encouragement they need to succeed. Our goal is to prepare all pupils not just for their next stage in education, but for life beyond the classroom.

We are committed to:

  • Identifying and responding to additional needs as early as possible
  • Offering a broad, balanced curriculum that is tailored where needed
  • Creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported
  • Helping children become confident, independent learners
  • Working in close partnership with families
  • Engaging with external professionals to provide the best possible support

Our Implementation

At Harpole, every teacher is a teacher of SEND. Our whole-school approach means that support for children with additional needs is woven into everything we do.

Children with SEND:

  • Are included in all areas of school life
  • Receive high-quality, personalised teaching
  • Are treated with respect and have their voices heard

Additional support might include:

  • Targeted small group or 1:1 interventions
  • Support for emotional and social wellbeing
  • Input from external professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists or Educational Psychologists

We work closely with families and outside agencies to make sure every child receives the support they need to reach their potential.

Our Impact

Thanks to our inclusive and nurturing approach, children with SEND at Harpole:

  • Feel safe, respected, and cared for
  • Show increasing confidence and independence in their learning
  • Engage fully in lessons and wider school life
  • Make strong progress from their individual starting points
  • Build the skills they need for life beyond primary school
  • Learn to work well with others and enjoy being part of a supportive school community
